TIPS

BIKE CHECK BEFORE START

To avoid unpleasant surprises during the tour, our bike guides recommend checking the following before you start:

  • Check rims: do the wheels still run true?
  • Check spokes
  • Check tire profile and make sure there are no visible damages
  • Check tire pressure – ideal for MTBs 1.8 – 2.5 bar (depending on tire and rider weight)
  • Adjust brakes properly (lever travel)
  • Check brake pads – is there enough material left?
  • Inspect brake discs for wear or deformation
  • Check frame for cracks or damage
  • Inspect bottom bracket, pedals, and headset
  • Adjust saddle to the correct height
  • Make sure handlebars are properly tightened
  • Adjust clipless pedals correctly
  • Clean and oil the chain
  • Check derailleur and shifting (also under load) and adjust if necessary, check derailleur hanger
  • Adjust suspension to rider weight and check functionality
